Detailed introduction
PVC-coated tarpaulin is a polyester scrim coated with PVC resin. Additives enhance its UV, anti-static, and anti-static properties. Typical weights range from 500-900 g/m² (heavy-duty tarpaulins weigh even more). This construction is ideal for tents, truck curtains, banners, and billboards. It also offers some resistance to lasers.
Why is it resistant to lasers?
Heating PVC produces hydrogen chloride gas and other chlorine-containing byproducts. These byproducts are toxic, corrosive, and harmful to optics and lungs. Many safety agencies and laser OEMs have labeled PVC unsuitable for laser processing.
